Turmeric (Organic)

Turmeric, “the golden spice of life,” is used as an essential ingredient in cuisine all over the world. In both Chinese and Indian systems of medicine, Turmeric has been considered as one of the most effective and beneficial herbs in existence.

Turmeric is a tropical, herbaceous perennial and has been domestically cultivated in India since ancient times. As early as 3000 B.C., Turmeric plants were cultivated by the Harappan civilization. Turmeric belongs to the Ginger family Zingiberaceae. Turmeric Powder is a bright yellow powder produced by the dry grinding of mature Turmeric rhizomes. It grows as a leafy herb up to one meter tall, with yellow and white flowers on a long, spiky stem.

Turmeric’s main ingredient is ‘Curcumin,’ which exhibits a wide range of medicinal activities. The yellow color of Turmeric is due to Curcumin and related compounds; Curcuminoids present naturally in Turmeric rhizomes and range from 3 to 6%.
